I See Dead People–Introduction

I want to spend some time in the next few posts discussing the interaction between our physical life and the hereafter. This is an alluring subject that must be given attention, especially with a generation that is captivated with Zombies, mystical beings and the like. The believer must understand and comply with God’s boundaries in order to please Him when interacting with the supernatural.
The popular 1999 movie entitled “The Sixth Sense” staring Bruce Willis, was about a boy who communicates with spirits that don't know they're dead and seeks out the help of a troubled child psychologist, who finds out at the conclusion of the movie (SPOILER ALERT) he is also is dead. This movie is one of many that has tantalized the curiosity of our generation who are longing to know about the spirit world. “Why”? You may ask. It is because we humans have an intuitive awareness that confirms, “Life is not over when it’s over.” The mystery that lies between here and our afterlife has been the subject of literature, playwrights, music, philosophy and Theology, and is as old as humanity itself.
Questions are sometimes more profound than the answers they demand. Remember, every mystery solved started with a curious heart unsatisfied. What is life after death anyway? What can we expect when we die? Where do people go and what do they see? What is the spirit world like? Do they have a free will to travel? Do they enjoy themselves? Can they interact with the living? CAN THE LIVING INTERACT WITH THE DEAD?
The Bible speaks volumes about these things and it is with the Bible we will be spending the majority of our time. Many of you will be surprised what God’s Word says about the “death of the saints” and the afterlife. I want to take a walk with you, as Peter did, when he risked walking on the water at his Master’s invitation. Risk is necessary for maturity in our faith and revelation of our God. Today is your invitation for tomorrow’s revelation.
